kurt hollander is originally from new york city, where he was the editor of the portable lower east side (from 1983-1993) and its anthology low rent (grove press 1994).

kurt moved to mexico city in 1989, where he was the editor of poliester (a contemporary art magazine of the americas) from 1992-2000; curated the mega-exhibition así está la cosa in centro cultural/arte contemporáneo in 1998 (consisting of over 70 artists from latin america); wrote, directed and produced carambola (a feature film starring diego luna, jesus ochoa, roberto cobo and super barrio); published children's books; authored the photo-books el super (rm 2006) on mexican consumer products and sonora: the magic market (rm 2008) on magic products sold in the sonora market; and has written for the london guardian weekly, the new york times, los angeles times, salon and letras libres.

his photographs have been published in the los angeles times, colors, studio voice magazine (japan) and in the book abcdf, and exhibited in la panaderia, salon des aztecas, palacio de bellas artes and rotunda gallery in brooklyn, and will be exhibited in 2013 at the museo y archivo fotográfico in mexico city and el museo de la ciudad in queretaro, mexico.
