Saint George / Equestrian Series
Saint George Mural: mural piece designed for board of directors meeting room where the central figure of Novgorod’s Saint George irradiates an apologetic vision of horsemanship and its relationship to the development of occidental culture conceived as a pendulum movement between east and west. The iconic image is embraced by victorious equestrian scenes and Durer’s anatomical studies of the horse. The composition as a whole is crowned by a procession of Teutonic knights embellishing the mural with a sense of heraldic order. Concerned about the space where the mural was projected, the artist designed stylized arm chairs coherent to the intimacy which the mural may encapsulate, where the spectator or viewer is also part of a scene subject to decision making and corporate governance.
