Kurt Hollander is originally from the Lower East Side of New York City, but has been living in Mexico City since 1989. He is a writer, translator, filmmaker and photographer. He is the author of Low Rent (An anthology of the Portable Lower East Side, which he edited, published by Grove Press), El Super (RM) and Sonora: The Magic Market (RM). He has exhibited his photographs in museums and galleries in Mexico City and New York City, and has published his photographs in Colors, the Los Angeles Times, Letras Libres and other places. His non-fiction book on death in Mexico City, illustrated with his photographs, will be published by Feral House in 2012.
